Received the Presidential Citation in the Human Resources Development category of the Korea National Quality Innovation Award
Last year, the KIRD won the presidential citation in the human resources development category of the National Quality Innovation Award at the 47th National Quality Management Convention organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. This citation is a commendation which proves the excellence of talent training and quality management innovation activities and is awarded after stringent document and on-site examinations by a panel of experts over various items including leadership, infrastructure, human resources management and development and management performances.
This award serves as an opportunity for the KIRD to be recognized home and abroad for the excellence of its various systems, institution and programs. With this award winning as a momentum, the KIRD is keen to begin a new journey of becoming a “professional institution dedicated to nurturing science& technology talent who contribute to new future and national development.” The KIRD will establish a more advanced talent training system based on the feedback both from within and external experts. Furthermore, the KIRD plans to actively share the best practices domestically and globally by doing case presentations and providing assistance for benchmarking request in order to positively influence the establishment of talent training system in the science& technology-related public institutions.

Ranked in the Top 100 Great Place to Work (GPTW) in Korea
The KIRD was awarded the grand prize in the public sector at the 2020 Top 100 Great Place to Work Korea and was ranked 33rd on the list of Best Workplaces in Asia. Particularly, the KIRD was well recognized for its young and dynamic organizational culture and various policies which enabled the employees to satisfied with their work.
The KIRD is currently running several programs which ensure the employees’ work-life balance such as ‘Family Office’ where employees are able to work in the presence of their children, ‘Flexible Working Hours’ and ‘Support for Women Researchers.’
Additional programs include ‘Mental Health Counselling Program,’ which helps the employees overcome the pandemic-related depression and enhance resilience, ‘Smart Work Center,’ a facility for remote working and ‘Give Me,’ a brown bag meeting between the president and junior employees.
All these programs aim to realize the KIRD’s Great Work Place (GWP) where the employees’ requests are harmoniously accepted and where workplace encourages creativity so that the employees can immerse themselves in their workplaces. The KIRD will promote the exemplary model for the organizational culture innovation of public institutions and expand it to the science&technology communities.
