As a part of reskilling education for the researchers in government-funded research institutes, KIRD has planned AI training courses under the request of National Research Council of Science & Technology.

The program has been established to lay foundation for the resources in research institutes and relevant organizations so that they can promptly respond to the needs of the digital transformation era where convergence between AI and industrial technology is crucial. 2,700 participants signed up for the program through pre-registration via National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST), proving its popularity among employees of research institutes.

KIRD, KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information) and ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) forged a consortium to run the education program. The consortium is expected to have a synergistic effect with the three organizations’ strengths: education curriculum, AI education infrastructure and network for cooperation.

AI training courses consist of three steps: basic introductory course(step1)-basic utilization course (step 2)-Advanced course(step3). Each course is made up of both online and offline classes. Total 38 courses including 11 online education courses and 27 group training courses which reinforces practical competency will be available until end of this year.

Three courses including “Python Programming for Non-majors“ are provided for scientists and engineers who want to Build basic competency to make inroads into AI field. “Digital Transformation Mind-up”, “Research Data Analysis Academy (Python)” and “Research Data Analysis Academy (R)” will enhance researchers’ research data analysis and utilization capacity while improving people’s understanding of AI through offline classes. Also, the program offers 6 online courses such as “Basic math for AI” and “Introductory Statistics” so that the pupils are not restricted by time and space.
