Presenting the KIRD Training Performance Evaluation Model
The Korea Institute of Human Resources Development in Science and Technology (KIRD) recently showcased a new evaluation model for training performance to the world. At the ATD International Conference & Exposition (ICE) 2022 held from May 15 to 18, 2022, KIRD presented its「KIRD Training Performance Evaluation Model」under the theme of the Next Paradigm of Evaluation.
This model improves upon the Kirkpatrick Model which is a five-level evaluation system mostly focusing on satisfaction, and is able to assess the overall training program with its 54 measurement indicators for 16 performance items over 5 different areas; Input – Activities – Output – Results – Implications. The model is praised as an advanced system complementing the existing evaluation models in that it enables the analysis of socioeconomic implications of education.
The Association for Talent Development (ATD), founded in 1944 and home to 70,000 members from over 100 countries across the world, is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to raising awareness for the necessity of training to those who develop talent in governments and firms and to sharing the best practices for human resources development.
Participating in the ATD ICE 2022 allowed the KIRD to showcase its training performance evaluation model to the global stage and introduced the KIRD’s major activities and performances to the participants who visited the exhibition booth, laying a foundation for further international cooperation opportunities.
KIRD plans to utilize data collected from this model to analyze how education impacts the nation’s research and development(R&D) from societal and economic perspectives. This performance analysis will prove the national and societal significance and necessity of the R&D talent training and will be used as reference to improving the KIRD training programs so that the ‘virtuous cycle of training performance management’ can be realized.
